We believe preschool is about being an active part of the community, engaging with people, places & events in our town and developing partnerships and relationships with other local services and schools. We aim to make excursions and community involvement are an integral part of our program at the Coonamble Preschool.
EXCURSIONS
Some of our routine excursion destinations are places within walking distance from preschool and include the Coonamble Oval, the Coonamble Children Services, Koonambil Hostel and the local library are also routine excursion destinations, staff and children access a bus for transport to these excursion destinations.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
We also involve ourselves in annual events such as the Coonamble Show, or Book Week at the High School. These excursions provide our children with the opportunity to engage with our local community and happenings within. We invite members of our local community to join us in celebrating events such as National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week, by inviting them into the centre to interact with and engage the children in relevant activities.
We are proud to provide all community members and businesses with a free community calendar each and every year.
FUNDRAISING INITIATIVES
Our preschool runs a ‘cattle program’ for raising funds for our preschools viability. We wish to thank all the families, business and the community who volunteer to assist this program by offering agistment, freight etc.
In 2024, our Committee is working within our community to raise funds to go towards upgrading our facilities and building a new building for future families to access. In 2024, we started a Grain Drive which worked with local farmers during the 2024 Harvest season, in collecting grain to go toward our new facilities. These types of initiatives have been very successful and we are blown away by the support of our community and the dedicated volunteers who helped make it happen.
